asphyxiates just the same
the breathing room
with barely a hole in it
and a force
pulling like centrifuge
bone-dry ventricles
no CSF to fuel
my vertebrae refuse to arch
vasoconstricted, unoxygenated
inclined to squirm
my cell-mediated survival.
