The Weekend

My weekend was uneventful as usual. I was awakened by the noise of our schnauzer barking incessantly because of a stray cat. I wasn‘t annoyed or anything. My brain has not fully initialized yet to process an emotion. The first ten minutes of my everyday waking life is spent staring blankly at the ceiling. And I kid you not, there‘s some kind of bliss in my apathy. Minutes after, my brain was already hinting that I should get coffee to be a fully functional human being. So here goes... my weekend was spent looking after my grandma, doing my laundry and my assignments. But in between my chores, I have done pretty much. I watched my favorite tv series, I was also trying to get a “Pay-per-view” for Manny Pacquiao‘s boxing match with Adrien Bronen but I failed miserably.
So much for that, I also read my German e-books to improve my vocabulary. All in all, my weekend was uneventful but a little productive.

My Random Thoughts: Filipino Women

Do Filipino women only see foreign men as a means to an end? I have been plagued by such a question on Quora, a question and answer social media platform.
And my answer was,”Yes and no.”
I reckon that our values depend on our upbringing.
As a kid, I was raised by my grandma, who has always emphasized on hardwork and integrity. I think she overcompensated a little, raising me and my sister because our setup was different. I would not say dysfunctional because my grandma did a fantastic job. She went over and beyond filling in for my mom who was missing in action.
I’m not saying this to diss women with different values. I am only pointing out that  despite our different struggles, be it financial, emotional or psychological, our core values will always keep us afloat.
Having lived abroad for a certain amount of time, I found out from a work colleague who said, “Filipino women are only two things; either a golddigging whore or a housekeeper.” As a Filipino, hearing that was downright degrading. So I blurted back, “Have you been living under a rock all your life? Not all Filipino women are the same.”
Filipinas, are just like women of any other race. There are decent ones who only want nothing but love and companionship. While there are also women who are cheating, golddigging leeches. The thing is, if you are a foreign man looking for a wife, don’t go looking in the wrong places. Don’t expect a wife material out of a woman who frequents bars. That’s common sense, dude.
I shouldn’t have to remind those who accidentally came across this narrative that this is my personal take on the matter. If I ruffled your feathers, it’s not my intention.

Ich bin kaputt: The Truth About Learning the German Language

While it might be true that learning a language is not connected to general intellectual giftedness whatsoever,  you simply cannot dismiss that it doesn’t involve as much intellectual relevance as Philosophy or Social Sciences.
I have been attending university for a German language course. And for almost four months, everything has been an uphill climb. Unlike English, where there are no complicated word order patterns and gender in inanimate objects, the intricacies of Deutsch right off the bat tells you that it’s not to be messed with. I kid you not. Learning Deutsch is like tinkering a high-end Cisco router due to bandwidth congestion. Excuse me for the technical jargon. I couldn’t think of a more fitting description.
My basic Deutsch course is nearing its end and it has left me conflicted. I seem to have developed a love-hate feeling toward the language. I love it just because. No, of course I will not leave you hanging. I love the language because I want to be a nurse in Germany. I mean, it comes with the job I am passionate about, so loving the language makes it a part of my commitment. Plus, there’s Goethe and Schiller. I am big on poetry and literature so there‘s that too. I figured that it‘s just difficult not to love the pioneers of a movement that emphasized on individualism, nature and feeling.
For some reason, I can’t seem to validate my hate for learning the language. It’s probably just my self-loathing for not being able to equate my passion to the actual demands of learning. I am gutted.
So much for an end to this narrative, I am dispelling all the negative waves in the atmosphere.
Guten Tag alle zusammen! 😊☺️🙃🙂

woman

this ain't no drama,
this ain't no whore swag
this verse is for women
who fight for the real cause
domestic abuse,
sex trafficking,
gender discrimination,
ageism,
and all the other isms.
this ain't a woman
who just takes a man's seed
as well as his curses
and fears his fist.
this is a woman,
who's got her own thing
pays her bills
and buys her bling
a homemaker
a teacher
a mother
a thinker
an artist.
a woman,
with tongue like blade,
courage of steel,
with a soft heart
that nurtures and heals
yes, I am a woman
I like roses
but I prefer a revolution.

Purpleskies

missed the last train
from Clapham Junction
a few seconds late
and 3 hours away to the
first train to Sutton
enduring the biting -10 centigrade
chasing that fire
that little chance of you and me
trying to buy myself out
an alibi that isn't too far-fetched
that negotiates with my truth
grants my heart's desires
oh the bargaining
my sweet little sleazebag.
